First Aid for a Knocked-out Tooth
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
First teeth are not usually replaced.
If you don't know if it is a first or second tooth then treat it as a second tooth as follows:
o Do not rinse even if dirty
o Put in glad wrap/plastic bag along with some of the patient's own spit, or their birth parent's. If this cannot be done then use milk or contact lens solution or medical grade saline solution.
o Keep the tooth cool and come in to see us as soon as possible – this needs to be within the hour.
